An introduction to JR PAT Testing
I started JR PAT Testing in 2014 having spent a lifetime in Corporate business and Recruitment. I wanted to do something as far removed from wearing pin stripe suits and endless meetings and presentations as I could, and most importantly I wanted to work in environments where I could just be myself and offer a totally genuine personal service. My other great motivation is that the older I get the more I really want to give back to life. This is driven by a love and respect for people, for my work colleagues, our customers and the absolute desire to put kindness, kind thoughts, smiles and laughs above everything else.
The business has grown from me out on the road 24-7 into a national business with teams of PAT engineers up and down the country in all regions.

All PAT is bespoke, tailored to your specific requirements and we operate 7:00am – 6:00pm, 7 days a week.

John Ross
CEO
I’m John and I started JR Pat Testing in 2014 as a one-man band. Over the years the business has grown into a national company, providing PAT and other core compliance services. We also deliver E-Learning in over 100 accredited courses covering a wide range of subjects from Fire Marshalling to Mental Health Awareness, Social Media, and Business Development. I am delighted with our Shout Out Community section on our website where we Shout Out about great causes, enterprises, charities, and people. We welcome any groups, individuals and SME’s who would like us to champion them.
Julie Lammin
HR & Compliance Manager
My role at JR focusses on the recruitment and compliance aspects of the business. Working closely with our Technical Specialist, Martin, to ensure that we meet every changing industry standards. Also, that office staff and engineers are qualified and trained to provide an excellent high-quality service to our customers. I have had the pleasure of working with a great team since 2022 – where did that go? We are a fast-paced organisation thriving on achievements and challenges, making every day both interesting and satisfying. Outside of work I enjoy the simple (less busy) things of life – family, walking, reading, music, theatre and gardening (when it isn’t raining, which is rare on Dartmoor!)

I’m Richard and I joined JR PAT Testing in March of 2023 having worked in this industry for what must be closing in on 20 years now. I love working with our fantastic team and watching as the company grows even further, something never in doubt with the fantastic ethics it is based on. I’ve learnt that John and the company not only cares for our staff and customers but also for the wider community as a whole with our Shout Out page growing daily. Lastly and to keep on record, I am the current JR PAT Axe Throwing Champion (stand well away if you ever play with John) and please do not listen to anyone if they say I’m a fan of Karaoke, although the urge to sing The Lion Sleeps Tonight is never more than a whim away….
Mel Roberts
Commercial Operations Manager
I am the Commercial Operations Manager. My role consists of managing the operations team on a daily basis. I am lucky to have a great team to work with. I manage the general business growing them into contracts and also some large contracts such as universities, school trusts, colleges and hospitals and deal with day-to-day enquiries. I also manage our E Learning platform and am helping to develop this as I truly believe in E Learning as a way of gaining more qualifications and knowledge. The role is very busy and ever diversifying which I love, no day is the same . How did I get to this role,? John has given me the opportunity to utilise all my experience from recruitment, management, training, and employability to make a position that is always stretching me and giving me challenges, which is healthy in the workplace. Outside of work, I love family life and have a wonderful husband, amazing children and adorable grandchildren who keep me very busy. I have a passion for cooking and love to entertain friends. I really enjoy spending time out in our motorhome, either at festivals or camping with friends, meeting new people and I do enjoy a Gin and Tonic. One of my favourite motto’s is: Life is too short to hold grudges and be angry, why waste the time and energy!

Since joining JR in April 2024 as Client Support, I have progressed in my career and have made lasting friendships. With over a decade of experience in hospitality and customer service, I believe I bring a diverse set of skills to the business, which I will carry on using to advance my career even further. I am dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, fostering relationships to help enhance and grow the business. Outside of work, I cherish being a mother to my two cheeky boys and a wife to my amazing husband. I love long walks, exploring new places, especially on sunny days, and creating lasting memories with my family and friends.

I’m Niki, I joined JR PAT Testing in February 2023, and what a journey it has been. The business has grown from strength to strength. John’s dedication and commitment not only to the business but to us as a team is incredible. My role at JR is a client account manager, I manage some pretty large contracts and enjoy building relationships with my contacts and our lovely engineers. In my free time you will catch me at the side line cheering on my football crazy sons, trying my hardest to master the offside rule.

I’m Kim and I joined JR PAT Testing in April 2024 and am really excited about joining the Team and am looking forward to the journey ahead. I am already really impressed with the ethos at JR and the welcome received from the Team. I have 40 years’ experience in various professional office environments, including Finance, Recruitment, Office Management, HR and for the past 14 years Legal. I love a challenge and truly believe you are never too old to learn new skills! I have lived overseas and would encourage everyone to try it at least once in a lifetime! When I am not working, I adore spending time with my daughter, son-in-law and two adorable grandchildren oh and not forgetting Max the mini dachshund, who is most definitely my third grand ‘fur’ baby. I love all things Disney and Harry Potter (see a big kid at heart!)

Hi, I’m Max, new to the Jr team but it already feels like home. How lovely to look forward to each day alongside such a great team. I come from a varied background in hospitality, education and management. I relish a challenge and feel that “people” are the key to success. Be that the JR team, engineers or customers. Each and everyone are important.
The main aim in my spare time is to grab life with both hands and make lasting memories. I love to travel, spend time with my family, including Harley our rescue dog and our “Grandson” puppy Gulliver. Oh, and food, I love to eat out and try different cuisine.
Martin Twigg
Technical Specialist
I’m Martin and I first started working for JR in October 2020, initially on a part-time basis as an engineer, as I was still a serving police officer at that time. Recently I have taken on the role of Technical and Compliance Manager. My role is to provide a technical and compliance link between the engineers, our management and operations team and our clients, to ensure as an organisation we are leaders within our sector. Over the years I have learnt that John is absolutely passionate about people, and his support for his team is second to none. He has built a fantastic team around him from his Management and Operations Team to his Engineers – everyone is valued, and so that is one of the main reasons I had no hesitation in joining the Management Team, all of who are great people who really care about each other. Away from work, I enjoy football (spectator nowadays as age and dodgy knees stop me playing), photography and flying my drones (I have a few!), as well as enjoying a wee dram of whisky (I have a collection of about 50 varieties at present including some collectables). I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, particularly the latest addition to the family, my little grandson.

With over 25 years of experience working with a wide spectrum of business within the construction, health, hospitality, public and education sectors. Kelly has helped businesses of all shapes and sizes, from those with multi million pound turnovers, to stand alone sole traders. Has a fondness for Labradors, classic VW’s and travelling.
