FAQs

We Are Here To Help!

Before contacting us, please take a couple of minutes to see if we have already answered your questions.

Do we need to turn everything off?

Ideally, yes, but in an organised, systematic way so as not to be disruptive. However, if equipment cannot be turned off for any reason, we will conduct either a visual inspection or a live earth bond test if achievable.

We will arrange a bespoke quote in relation to your enquiry. This will depend on location, types of applications, number of appliances, access times and any other special requests. Some testing can take considerably longer to conduct.

No, our engineers use hand-held battery-operated testing machines, and when an appliance is plugged into the machine, it creates its own circuit. You will need electricity on site, however, for our engineers to test the equipment in a live environment.

This will depend on your individual site risk assessment, but you need to consider your specific health & safety recommendations and any stipulations your insurance company may have.

When we fail an appliance, we report this to the ‘responsible person’ and discuss the best outcome. We make the responsible person aware of the item and location. We can also facilitate any special requirements for the failed items with our clients.

We are a national company with engineers based in Cornwall to Scotland and throughout the UK, with our UK-registered offices in Devon and London. We deliver the highest quality and personal service and are local to everywhere.

If you use a laptop regularly, the lead, adaptor, and extension should be inspected and tested annually. For other static computers and monitors, it changes depending on the insurance and risk assessments in place. This might be annual, biannual, or triannual.  However, leads, adapters and extension leads should be tested annually.

We will e-mail you the test results in Excel format, detailing every appliance by its own unique ID number, test result and location. You will also receive a testing certificate and a reminder nearer the time your PAT is due again.

We go by the month the PAT was last done and not the day itself, so we can always reassure you by stating this in an email as part of an audit trail should there be a health & safety enquiry.

The more notice, the better your chances are of getting your preferred dates. However, we will review the first available dates we have and discuss them with you prior to booking your appointments.
