I started JR PAT Testing in 2014 having spent a lifetime in Corporate business and Recruitment. I wanted to do something as far removed from wearing pin stripe suits and endless meetings and presentations as I could, and most importantly I wanted to work in environments where I could just be myself and offer a totally genuine personal service. My other great motivation is that the older I get the more I really want to give back to life. This is driven by a love and respect for people, for my work colleagues, our customers and the absolute desire to put kindness, kind thoughts, smiles and laughs above everything else.
The business has grown from me out on the road 24-7 into a national business with teams of PAT engineers up and down the country in all regions.
We conduct PAT – Portable Appliance Testing nationwide for Offices, Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Construction Companies and Sites, Properties for Landlords, Care Homes, Retail Businesses, NHS Trust Hospitals, Medical and Dental Practices and indeed any environment requiring a thorough, professional PAT nationwide of Portable Electrical Appliances. All PAT is bespoke, tailored to your specific requirements and we operate 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Meet the Team
John Ross
I'm John and I started JR Pat Testing in 2014 as a one-man band. Over the years the business has grown into a national company, providing PAT and other core compliance services. We also deliver E-Learning in over 100 accredited courses covering a wide range of subjects from Fire Marshalling to Mental Health Awareness, Social Media, and Business Development. I am delighted with our Shout Out Community section on our website where we Shout Out about great causes, enterprises, charities, and people. We welcome any groups, individuals and SME's who would like us to champion them.
Julie Lammin
I’m Julie and have an all-encompassing role at JR including contract management, recruitment and overseeing the admin team. I am passionate about the business and a stickler for doing things properly – so much so that proof reading seems to land on my desk! My background includes time served in legal, medical and as a town clerk for many years. When asked what I like most about working at JR it is, without doubt, the respect and care we have for each other. When I’m not at work I enjoy walking on Dartmoor with my dogs, reading, music and spending time with my ever-increasing family. I escape to the theatre as much as possible – musicals, plays, ballet, opera, anything goes!
Richard Strafford
I’m Richard and I joined JR PAT Testing in March of 2023 having worked in this industry for what must be closing in on 20 years now. I love working with our fantastic team and watching as the company grows even further, something never in doubt with the fantastic ethics it is based on. I’ve learnt that John and the company not only cares for our staff and customers but also for the wider community as a whole with our Shout Out page growing daily. Lastly and to keep on record, I am the current JR PAT Axe Throwing Champion (stand well away if you ever play with John) and please do not listen to anyone if they say I’m a fan of Karaoke, although the urge to sing The Lion Sleeps Tonight is never more than a whim away….
Mel Roberts
I am the Business and Training Manger, my role consists of managing the general business, managing contracts, booking engineers, and dealing with day-to-day enquiries. I also manage our E Learning platform and am helping to develop this as I truly believe in E Learning as a way of gaining more qualifications and knowledge. I am also responsible for PAT Testing Training and am developing this into a virtual classroom as well as face to face. The role is very busy and ever diversifying which I love. How did I get to this role,? John has given me the opportunity to utilise all my experience from recruitment, management, training, and employability to make a position that is always stretching me and giving me challenges, which is healthy in the workplace. Outside of work ,I love family life and have a wonderful husband, amazing children and adorable grandchildren who keep me very busy. I have a passion for cooking and love to entertain friends. I really enjoy spending time out in our motorhome, either at festivals or camping with friends, meeting new people and I do enjoy a Gin and Tonic. One of my favourite motto’s is: Life is too short to hold grudges and be angry, why waste the time and energy!
Kelly Britton
I started working with JR PAT Testing in October 2020, and have seen the business go from strength to strength. The operations team are fantastic which makes managing their compliance a whole lot easier. With over 25 years of experience working with a wide spectrum of business within the construction, health, hospitality, public and education sectors. Kelly has helped businesses of all shapes and sizes, from those with multi million pound turnovers, to stand alone sole traders. Has a fondness for Labradors, classic VW’s and travelling.
Niki Rounding
I’m Niki, I joined JR PAT Testing in February 2023, and what a journey it has been. The business has grown from strength to strength. John’s dedication and commitment not only to the business but to us as a team is incredible. My role at JR is a client account manager, I manage some pretty large contracts and enjoy building relationships with my contacts and our lovely engineers. In my free time you will catch me at the side line cheering on my football crazy sons, trying my hardest to master the offside rule.
Rob Duncan
I’m Rob and I’m the newish to the team but that hasn’t stopped it from being an incredible start to my career here at JR PAT testing. Working with such an amazing team has made every day a great day to be at work, every day brings new challenges and I relish them all. I worked in various roles through various locations around the UK and Canada and I find my strength in teams and supporting a common goal. When I’m not working I’m spending time with my dog Snowie or being a movie/ video game nerd (a bit of a wasted youth you might say)
Kristina Ford
I am now a part of JR PAT Testing as a Client Engagement Support. With over a decade of experience in hospitality and customer service, I believe I bring a diverse set of skills to the business, which I will actively use to advance my career. I am dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, fostering relationships to help enhance and grow the business. Outside of work, I cherish being a mother to my two cheeky boys and a wife to my amazing husband. I love long walks, exploring new places, especially on sunny days, and creating lasting memories with my family and friends.
Louise Lacrouts
Hi, I’m Louise and I have recently joined the ever-growing JR team as an Administrator. I have worked in various different administrative roles in the past, and I am joining JR at an exciting time and looking forward to the new challenges ahead with a fantastic and supportive team beside me. In my free time I like to spend time with my family and enjoy keeping fit and exploring the Devon countryside that I am lucky enough to have on my doorstep.
Kim McGuire
I’m Kim and I joined JR PAT Testing in April 2024 and am really excited about joining the Team and am looking forward to the journey ahead. I am already really impressed with the ethos at JR and the welcome received from the Team. I have 40 years’ experience in various professional office environments, including Finance, Recruitment, Office Management, HR and for the past 14 years Legal. I love a challenge and truly believe you are never too old to learn new skills! I have lived overseas and would encourage everyone to try it at least once in a lifetime! When I am not working, I adore spending time with my daughter, son-in-law and two adorable grandchildren oh and not forgetting Max the mini dachshund, who is most definitely my third grand ‘fur’ baby. I love all things Disney and Harry Potter (see a big kid at heart!)
Louisa Mincer

With over 20 years of experience in administration and personal assistance over multiple industries, I can provide you and your business a plethora of services ranging from the most tedious of tasks to the most important and challenging. I've honed my skills in email management, travel booking, diary management, administration tasks, customer services and much more. My goal is to relieve you of the daily administrative burdens, allowing you to focus on what you do best – growing your business. Some exciting news!….. In the next few weeks, I will begin supporting JR organising Shout Out Networking events, the Walk On Stage shows and linked social media activity.
Neil Kerber
I’m Neil Kerber, award-winning national newspaper cartoonist, helping to bring a smile to the nation for the past 25+ years. My cartoons have been a regular fixture in Private Eye, GQ, The Mirror, Vogue, and many other prestigious publications. I’m also the creator of ‘Doodleness’, my online cartoon course, teaching the enjoyable skills of cartooning. Alongside my published work I also create bespoke cartoons for brands and marketing. A cartoon speaks a million words !!! Clients include Evian, Visa, PwC, and now my newest exciting venture… creating cartoons for the incredible JR Shout Out, with the aim of bringing a smile, while also Shouting Out about these amazing events !!!
